Three of Melbourne's post and VFX companies were involved in the creation of box office hit The Bank Job, starring Jason Statham.

After the production wrapped in London, The Bank Job director Roger Donaldson called Melbourne “home” for four months. He and Melbourne-based post production supervisor Marc Van Buuren established an office at Digital Pictures' complex and it was here that the entire post production process took place, including the work of editor John Gilbert in the avid offline suites.

The team at Iloura was responsible for all the VFX and the opening title for the film including the creation of a detailed 3D matte painting to recreate the infamous bank, as it appeared in 1971. The partial set built at pinewood studios was digitally extended top and sides and the environment was digitally augmented with 3D motion captured people, period cars, trees and street extension.

Soundfirm carried out a complete sound post production package for The Bank Job, including foley, effects, ADR, premixing and final mix. The film's composer also created the film's score in one of Soundfirm's theatres which was transformed into a special composing room for the production. It was the first time Roger had done all his sound post for a film in Australia and he was delighted with the results.

"One of the best sound experiences I've ever had. It was a really successful sound mix done with a minimum of fuss." – Roger Donaldson, DIrector.
